Many people dream of being so successful at building a home Internet business, that they can give up their regular offline job. I did too and that dream came true for me. I guess that you have that dream as well, or a similar one, or you would not be reading this article.

First let me tell you a bit about myself (I'll try not to bore you). I gave up working for my family business and other people in 2000 and have worked only online and solely for myself ever since.

I have been online since 1997 and I have tried many schemes, but generally was diligent enough not to waste too much money on scams. Maybe, I was just too mean too ☺ .

What I am about to present to you, is a distilled, concentrated explanation of my experience and a chance to replicate it without having to search for years like I did.

You start and keep building this home Internet business. from any computer anywhere in the world at any time of the day or night and it will continue to work for you for short periods (to start with) when you are not online.

Later, you will be able to leave it on auto-pilot for longer periods, but by then you probably will not want to! So, what does it involve, you are probably wondering? Well, a few things:

• access to a computer
• access to the Internet
• time
• a willingness to work
• a willingness to succeed
• some start-up money

1. 'Access to a computer' is essential to make money online; having your own computer is ideal, but not essential. This scheme can be run from an Internet Cafe . I know, because I was building a home Internet business this way for two years. In this situation, a laptop is very useful, even an old second-hand one.
2. 'Access to the Internet' is also obviously essential for starting an online business, although you don't need to be online every day. I live in rural Thailand now, where there are no land lines and, so, no Internet in our village. It took me two years to find land and have a house built. Now I have my own satellite link, but for two years, I had to work at home on my laptop and catch the one bus a week, on Tuesday morning, into town to the nearest Internet Cafe, 15km away. I would stay there for eight hours and then take a taxi home! The system still worked.
3. 'Time', as they say, is money. The more time you can devote to building a home Internet business, the more money you are likely to make. This is especially true when starting an online business. If you were going to open a shop on the High Street, you would need lots of time, patience and money. Building an Internet home business is similar, but cheaper in monetary terms.
4. 'A willingness to work' is also essential. I say this, because it is easy to be distracted when you're online. You must stay focussed on the task you have set yourself to do. Don't wander off halfway through the job in hand because of some clever marketing copy or special offer. There'll be plenty of time for that later, after your money-making 'machine' of multiple streams of income has been set up.
5. 'A willingness to succeed' may sound silly to you, but it is just as essential as any other component. You must believe that this system will work. It will work. It is working. The beginning may be slow, it may not, but it will work. Don't give up. Never give up!
6. 'Some start-up money', well, nothing is for nothing. It's true of the Internet too, all you get for nothing is nothing! However, that doesn't mean that it has to be expensive. No business costs nothing to set up.

It is hard to earn enough money from one Internet source to make a living, so most Internet business people have multiple streams of income.

This can mean almost anything, but let's say you create a website: you can put up some affiliate marketing banners to earn a little earn extra cash; you can put Google's Adsense ads to earn some more; you could put relevant Amazon links and you can be advertising a hot new relevant ebook or book too.

All of a sudden, you have a small, but legitimate online business which can bring you in new and passive residual income every month for the rest of your life.

There are different strategies for any business and this goes for Internet marketing as well. Once you have your website ranking on page one in Google for your keywords, you can keep building it or you can move on and build another website on a different topic. This is a personal decision that every online home business owner has to make and there is no right answer.

Internet marketing is a business opportunity with limitless options, although some strategies do seem more successful to me than others. One trick to learn is how to pick successful affiliate programs, another is using the right marketing tools.

The annoying thing is that what works for one Internet marketer on one business idea might not work for another person or another online business idea.
